Kitchens, bathrooms and any room with direct afternoon sun show wear first — typically three to four years. Bedrooms and corridors comfortably reach six or seven.
Signs it is time
Chalking when you rub a wall, hairline cracking around window reveals, and colour that has drifted between sunlit and shaded walls are all cues that the coat has done its work.
